Why CGI is the ideal tool for watches and jewellery

Luxury product photography is demanding. It requires specialised equipment, highly controlled lighting and intensive post-production to ensure that materials — polished steel, gold, gears, precious stones — look exactly as they should.

CGI does not replace photography in every context, but it offers something no camera can: absolute control over every material, every reflection and every angle. A watch in CGI can show its internal mechanism, its construction layers, its behaviour under different lights — all in a single visual piece.

"A luxury watch has dozens of components the buyer will never see. CGI allows you to show them all, and that builds the perception of value that justifies the price."

What CGI can do that photography cannot

01

Showing the internal mechanism

The gears, the movement, the machinery of a watch are invisible to the end buyer. With CGI you can open the watch, show its construction and communicate the technical complexity that justifies the price.

02

Reproducing precious materials with absolute precision

Gold, silver, titanium, sapphire, leather, metal mesh. Each material has specific light behaviour that CGI can recreate with photographic fidelity — without the unwanted reflections of a physical studio.

03

Creating impossible environments

Submerging a watch in water, showing a jewel floating in a void, integrating the product into iconic architecture. CGI has no physical limitations — the only limit is the concept.

04

Generating multiple variants from a single model

Different finishes, strap colours, dial versions. With a 3D model you can generate all catalogue variants without producing a separate session for each one.

Real cases — watches and jewellery at BM Produccions

LEBOND · 2026 · Reloj de lujo

Antoni Gaudí

Lebond needed to reveal the soul of their most special watch through a visual narrative worthy of the project: a collector's piece created to commemorate the centenary of Antoni Gaudí's death. The challenge was to position the Hotel Attraction — Gaudí's most ambitious building, never built — as the conceptual backbone of the watch. We produced two cinematic films that showcased both the craftsmanship of the watch and the architectural grandeur behind the project.

The CGI production process for watches and jewellery

Producing CGI for the luxury sector requires a higher level of detail and precision than in other sectors. The process is the same, but the demands at each stage are greater:

01

Brief and art direction

We understand the product, the brand values and the distribution channel. We develop an artistic direction that respects the visual identity of the brand and elevates it — lighting, composition, pace, narrative.

02

High-precision modelling

Each piece is modelled with millimetre precision. Materials are recreated photorealistically — the difference between brushed and polished steel, between a sapphire and mineral crystal — are the details that distinguish mediocre CGI from luxury CGI.

03

Lighting and composition

Lighting in the luxury sector is critical. It recreates the behaviour of light in high-end photography studios — with the advantage of being able to adjust every parameter until achieving the exact result the brand needs.

04

Delivery and formats

We deliver in all formats needed for each channel — from high-resolution static images for print to animated videos for social media and broadcast.

Which watch and jewellery brands use CGI

CGI in the luxury sector is not a recent trend — major brands have been using it for years. Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Bulgari and virtually all first-line luxury brands produce most of their visual content with CGI or with mixed photography and CGI techniques.

The reason is simple: CGI allows total control over the perception of the product that conventional photography cannot guarantee. And in a sector where the price of a product can be justified solely by its perception of value, that control is fundamental.

High-end watches

Luxury watches have a technical complexity that CGI can exploit to the fullest. The ability to show the mechanical movement, internal components and surface finishes in a single visual piece is a real competitive advantage at point of sale and in launch campaigns.

Jewellery and luxury accessories

High jewellery rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings have complex optical properties — the way light interacts with diamond, sapphire or enamel is difficult to control in a physical studio. With CGI, those properties are simulated with precision and adjusted until the perfect result is achieved.

Modern and contemporary watchmaking

Watchmaking brands looking to position themselves in a contemporary segment find CGI to be a particularly effective tool. It allows the creation of clean, modern visual aesthetics that align with brand values without the limitations of a physical shoot.
